Platypus Marine is one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest indoor full-service shipyards specializing in marine refit, repair, and new construction. With our long-standing record of excellence, we provide services to government, commercial, and recreational vessels.

At Platypus Marine, we are dedicated to the quality and integrity of each project. We bring unparalleled experience, craftsmanship, dedication, enthusiasm, teamwork, and the most effective solutions possible to each project. No project is complete until it passes our quality assurance standards and meets our client’s expectations.
Conveniently located, our ten-acre waterfront facility in Port Angeles, Washington, off the Strait of Juan de Fuca offers deep-water, heavy lift haul-out capability. We have the capability to haul-out vessels up to 500 tons with a 36’ beam.
Currently utilizing five buildings with over 110,000 square feet of enclosed space, with radiant floor heating and environmentally controlled production and repair space, we are able to effectively and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
Platypus Marine’s professional, multi-talented workforce excels in working with all aspects of vessels. We are experienced with fiberglass, steel, aluminum, and wood. Platypus Marine provides excellence in servicing and repair of propulsion, mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary systems. Our experienced and dedicated management team maintains project timelines while ensuring quality and controlling project costs.
Platypus Marine is a member of the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA), American Boating Yacht Council (ABYC), US Superyacht Association (USSA) and meets the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) standards. We always adhere to the guidelines of these regulatory associations. We apply dedication and a strong commitment to quality with every project.
Platypus Marine is a company with Northwest roots. We developed in Seattle in 1992, expanded to Port Townsend in 1997, and then opened our current facility in Port Angeles, Washington. Today we are a corporation employing up to 75 workers.
