Platypus Marine, Inc., is a company with Northwest roots, having developed from a small corporation headquartered in Seattle in 1992 to a corporation employing approximately 70 employees today. In 1997, the organization expanded to Port Townsend, WA. When an opportunity to purchase the former Admiral Marine/Queenship facilities opened in Port Angeles, the firm moved quickly to consolidate to its present location.

Over the 12 years that PMI has been in business, we have subcontracted with several of the largest yacht builders throughout the world, including Trinity, Delta, Crescent, Horizon and Westport. In the early years the company consisted of two main divisions: subcontracting to boat builders for new construction and conducting refit/repair. The subcontracting division employed approximately one-third of PMI’s 45-member work crew while the remainder of the crew worked on refit and repair. These larger refits involved extensive exterior and interior repairs, extensions and custom remodels.

As a proud Port Angeles community business, the company’s combination of national mega-yacht building and refit experience and locally successful enterprise makes for an ideal combination to ensure future success. A member in good standing with the Northwest Marine Trade Association (NMTA) and the American Boating Yacht Council (ABYC), since 1992, Platypus Marine is one of the largest marine repair yards in the Pacific Northwest.
